Life, Books, and Learning to Rest

Guys, confession time: I SUCK at self-care. There, I said it. I’m a try to do ALL THE THINGS girl. And I end up an exhausted wreck. Every. Time. I keep telling myself I’ll do better, I’ll take some time for me, get some writing done, go to the gym, get to bed earlier, whatever I feel like I need to do to get my energy levels back up. And it NEVER HAPPENS. I’m realizing that that needs to change. Life has been INSANE lately, especially with my day job, and I’m getting to the point where my body is telling me to REST.  So I might be posting less often, and there will be a few more books per post, but I’ll still be around, I promise. I just need to take care of me for a bit. That being said, I have finished a few books in the last couple weeks! The Defiance Trilogy by CJ Redwine ALL THE YES TO THESE BOOKS!! Also, the most “me” quote EVER can be found in book 2. It may or may not refer to the stubbornness of a particular character. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge Not quite wha

Strong Female Characters for the win!!!

Hi guys! How is it Monday again already? ๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿผ‍♀️ I’m not a fan of Mondays. But I’m working on it. I’m hoping a really good playlist will help me not be cranky today. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚ In random news, my niece turned 2 on Friday. She’s growing WAAAAAYYY too fast. But she’s an adorable little munchkin, so it’s forgivable. ❤️ The day job has been kind of nuts, but Somehow, I finished three books this week! In order, they are: Sanctuary by Carolyn Lix Not my favorite read for sci-fi, but not bad. I’m curious as to where the story will go from here, but it felt kind of like an Illuminae files/Zenith wannabe. Not in a bad way really, but it just didn’t grab me as much as I wish it had. Solid 3 1/2 Stars, and I hope the sequel gets better. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Amber Eyes by S D Grimm WHAT THE HECK?! I need the sequel (Black Blood, a pic from the cover reveal is on my insta, feel free to gawk at the pretty!!) NOW. WHY do we have to wait until January?! Needless to say, Amber Eyes is quite a ride, if you haven’t r

July’s end, Realm Makers, and writing pitches!

Hi guys! HOW is it August already?! Seriously I can’t even. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผ‍♀️ July was CRAZY. I was busy, and pretty stressed, but thankfully life is slowing down some. Realm Makers was AMAZING. It was my first time flying anywhere,  thus the above mentioned stress, but the flights were uneventful. The conference itself absolutely FLEW by, and I wish it hadn’t. I miss my people. Hugs to all of you Realmies reading this! ❤️๐Ÿ˜˜ Sooo, at Realm Makers my lovely friend Nadine Brandes taught a workshop on how to pitch your novel, and while it’s not written yet, I have an AWESOME pitch for my WIP! I might share it here someday when I’ve gotten a bit more written. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Since I barely posted any in July because life is crazy, here’s a rundown of what I read between my last post and now! The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon I read this for a buddy read through the month of July, and I LOVED it! The characters are fascinating, flawed, and complex, and the world is vivid and full of some pretty crazy
